When is the existing Community Center going to be repaired instead of letting it deteriorate.

At one time, the Community Center Rental was discussed by Mayor Rivers.  And since the Governor lifted the COVID restriction the Community Center could be rented.  Yet the next discussion discussed the mold and deterioration of the Community Center.

1.  We don’t know if we will get another Community Center Grant and had to relinquish the old Grant because our Town wasn’t smart enough to secure a modular hurricane proof  building instead of going through all the engineering etc. we still have to pay for at least to Mittauer.for engineering, which a modular hurricane proof building would not require.

2.  Why aren’t we securing quotations to fix the current Community Center which was used by residents and on which property is the amphitheater.   We should secure a quotation from Serve Pro in Valdosta who handles Removal and Disposal of all damaged and unsalvageable items,  Handles Structural Drying with air movers and dehumidifiers, provides Mold prevention and disinfects the area to prevent mold overtime and rebuilds and restores the affected area.  It is the Town’s fault that the building deteriorated because we have not run fans or cleaned the existing Women’s Center Town Hall.

3.  This situation has not remained on the agenda.  And no one seems to care that this is the only community Center where we have a Veteran’s Luncheon in September and some families like to rent it.  In fact other events could be at this Center but the Town has done nothing for its Citizens

This is not a public records request.  It is my plea for the Town Council to ask the Town manager to secure quotes.  Right Now we have a Mr. Williams and a Mr. White who are excellent builders and are working on the house across from Bob Dezendorf.  They could also be hired if the correct supplies are provided and they are excellent Craftsmen and have done work for us.

P.S.  THIS IS ONE OF THE GRANTS FOR WHICH WE OWE MONEY AND EVEN THOUGH THE PRIOR COUNCIL WAS BLAMED, VANESSA GEORGE HAD TO KNOW THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ENGINEERING AND HAD IT IN HER REPORTS WHEN SHE WAS TEMPORARY MANAGER.  SO SHE SHOULD HAVE PLANNED BETTER INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT HER OWN CONTRACT.
