At the December 15, 2020 meeting, Scott Gay provided the officials of the Town with another copy of the Ray & Kay Eckstein Charitable Trust. He explained that he has been a long time friend (25 years) of Ray Eckstein and the donation was given for specific equipment for the Fire Department. It is required that we comply with such donations or no further will be offered.
At the meeting Interim Town Manager Vanessa George indicated the funds which were owed to Mittauer & Associates and Art Walker Construction. These funds were paid just prior to Christmas.
She also indicated that we have $70,000 in unpaid bills.
First Federal was provided a new application, invoices photos and $50,000 in grants that have to be paid out first. The information is in the Credit Department for review.
Ms. George also has applied to the CARES Act for $50,000. On March 27, the President signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help combat the far-reaching impacts of COVID-19. The bill provides increased tax incentives for charitable giving for both individuals and corporations, signifying an intent to stimulate philanthropy throughout America.
We need to pass a three percent (3%) increase by ordinance to pass on to the consumers. We currently charge less than what Waste Pro Charges us for Dumpsters
The Hours at Town Hall will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Staff Meetings will be held one Friday a month. The office will be closed every Friday. Councilwoman Jackie Williams made the motion and Nicole Seconded. The hours will be posted as well as included in the water bill.
Kimley-Horn Planning and Design Engineering Consultants advises all work with respect to the Community Center will be completed by 2021. An extension is required for a 12 month period sooner instead of later. The schedule should be completed by May for an additional $2,000 for the project. Ms. George will check with Kimley Horn about the $2,000 increase and what it entails since we were quoted $6,000 originally.
The Police Chief Tracy Rodriquenz said that the audit for the evidence room is still continuing. The part-time police officer will receive $18.00 per hour and will handle two 12 hour shifts.
Fire Chief Kevin Pittman said all gear and jackets have been received and invoices have been provided to Cynthia Williams to be paid.
Since the flow meter was installed on December 8th, it is reading and there are no issues. It may be mentioned that our Town Manager was at the site when the flow meter was installed.
Tom Brazil had a heat stroke at the Tye Fire and it was heat related but the claim is still being worked on. Yearly Physicals are required of the Town of White Springs Fire Department. Two bills which were months overdue were submitted to the Town for Payment of $542.-3 and $272.16 for a total $814.19. Thomas Brazil Sr, stated all other bills were paid by Tom Brazil’s health insurance. The payment of these invoices was passed 3-0
