Tommie Jones – -The Gift that keeps on giving

———- Forwarded message ———
At an inquiry made by Vice Mayor (Acting Mayor) Anita Rivers after recollection of our former Town Attorney Meagan Logan mentioning a settlement of $30,000 (but not the requirement of additional attorney fees to Preuter’s attorney), I Joe Griffin elected to contact FMIT for the actual settlement if any.

Although this case was closed after a settlement was offered by FMIT by the Judge on 11/3/2020, with the agreement signed 10/13/2020, it is obvious that our Town Attorney never checked into the Preuter case nor did she know that it was closed or that a settlement option had been agreed to.

In fact Ms. Logan kept referring to the $30,000 settlement not realizing that Preuter’s attorney had requested his attorney’s expenses be paid for.. In any event I will provide the terms of the settlement agreement in a subsequent blog. Ms. Logan never kept abreast of the town’s dealings and with Helen Miller and Walter McKenzie’s hiring of Jones they can be so proud that he is the gift that keeps on giving. We know any such payments including the defense paid by FMIT will be reflected in our insurance premiums.
