MEMO TO FRED KOBERLEIN TWO WEEKS BEFORE HE QUIT, NOW IT IS TO MEAGAN
I know we don’t see eye to eye on many things, like following the law and such, but I am concerned for you and your firm’s exposure to legal action that is possible from White Springs against your firm. White Springs is heading down the dumps and you know it. To avoid exposure for a legal malpractice suit I suggest you and your firm consider cancelling your contract with the town, the legal exposure is just too great a risk to run. I know it is great to be the go to authority for our town but if you continue I feel relatively certain that it will turn around and bite you and your firm. You are knowingly and willfully taking your marching orders from, not the council, but from two people one of whom has no Charter Authority to tell you the time of day. The other is operating independent of the Council ignoring the law which says “all discussions between a public board and its attorney must be conducted in the sunshine”. How you and your firm are operating is outside of that stricture of the law I believe.
If I was your managing General Partner I would assume that the measly $2500.00 a month you get in fees is not worth the risk. But that is just my opinion, for what its worth. Good luck representing this sinking ship in the future.
