WILL THE PUBLIC EVER GET AN ANSWER ON OUR PAYOUTS?
At the June Meeting 4th meeting, Mayor Miller had requested information regarding Lone Star Planning Group, Innovative Network, Inc. Invoices from Lanier Municipal Supply etc. When the meeting date arrived, nothing was brought up nor was it contained in the agenda as “Old business” nor is it included in the old business of the July meeting agenda. Although information had been requested from Ms. Tebo, why are the results not supplied to the public? Or did Ms. Tebo ignore Mayor Miller’s requests and hoped it would be forgotten:
Mayor Miller at the Town Operations Workshop held June 4th, questioned expenditures of the Town and one of the entities which White Springs pays $750 per month to is Lone Star Planning Group, and run by a friend of Stacy Tebo’s who was an associate of hers in DeBary. Is this Fraud or Grand Theft, I sure wonder.
Mayor Miller questionned a bill of $1,475 paid April 9th and another paid 4/16 of $750 for a total of $2,225. Tebo stated that Ms. Esties has been a planner since 2016 for the Town of White Springs and she helps with the GIS and Mapping. Tebo also stated that the Council approved the hiring of Ms. Estes in 2016 and Mayor Miller requested Pam provide the Minutes where she was approved by the council, because none of us remember the hire of Ms. Estes.
NOTHING ON THE HAMILTON COUNTY FIRE REIMBURSEMENT OR WHY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DOESN’T HAVE TO RESPOND BUT WE ARE WELL OVER THE BUDGET OF $30,000
The July meeting agenda for this Tuesday does not bring forth information relating to Hamilton County’s reimbursement, which if it is based upon that which was reported to the Sheriff’s Dispatch, they will only get their quarterly pay. They don’t get paid any more for doing nothing.
What about bringing up the overage on the budget of $30,000 which was anticipated but will not be received because WE DO NOT HAVE A FIRE DEPARTMENT EXCEPT NAMES ON A ROSTER? Who agreed to pay firefighters or just bodies to be at the fire station $100 a day? Why can’t the councilors read and interpret information that we provided from the Sheriff’s dispatch or what another individual has provided you? Why is it so important to keep a Chief and Assistant Chief who do not do their jobs? Why did Genoa have to respond to the fire in White Springs on July 3rd? They’re volunteers just like White Springs, so don’t keep giving us the same excuses? Why are you all so afraid to speak up? No wonder we have over four hour meetings and nothing gets accomplished…and then it gets dropped as old business!
NOTHING MENTIONED ON THE ATTORNEY AND CPA REQUESTS FOR PROPOSAL
We provided you all with the ad placed through the Florida League of Cities for an attorney; And we expressed how stupidly written the add was but I forgot one thing which is realoly ridiculous. The Attorney is not a Town employee; Yet Ms. Tebo stated that it was an “ANNUAL” Salary. Are you kidding me. It should say “FEE BASED”. For those of you who may not understand how stupid the ad was, look at any other ads and you will find that no one writes an ad like our Town Does and that is why besides our bad reputation, we do not get attorneys to apply. And why in the world does a candidate have to provide five copies, one for each of the councilors? Can’t the Town make copies? And furthermore, there should be no request for sealed bids because like every other position, the public has the right to review those ads as do the councilors or any such committee. There was no ad on the Florida Bar site. There were no ads on job sites? Shouldn’t old business address these issues and find out where the heck ads were sent and what they said?
This is the manner in which most ads are written. Who do we think we are? No wonder we only get the worst of the lot or no lot.
And by the way, where did our ad end up for the CPA?
DID THE LETTER TO FDOT ABOUT A CROSSWALK ON US HWY 41 GET WRITTEN?
Another piece of old business has not been discussed or listed on the July agenda. Who is responsible? Is it done? Will it remain on the agenda as old business until it is resolved?
Remember Spencer Lofton, after permission to see if the School Board would lease SHE for $1.00 and was refused but continued negotiating with the School Board and others on behalf of the Town Council? Furthermore this negotiating nor reports on each and every aspect discussed was never brought forward to the Council, NOR DID THE COUNCIL GIVE MR. LOFTON PERMISSION TO REPRESENT THE TOWN ON THIS MATTER, In fact not only was this matter done totally in the darkness and would have never been found out if we had not become involved with Chapter 119’s to the School District. Mayor Miller has requested Spencer Lofton’s notes on the matter which are “Public Records” and all he states is they are on his phone but has not released the information to Ms. Tebo nor anyone else to our knowledge.
The aforementioned is against the law and Ms. Hatton was to have reviewed the law but did not have the understanding of it when read apparently and walked out at the last meeting. Nevertheless, this was not listed as old business and Joe Griffin called to complain. It is amazing that The Councilors can remove Miller for no infractions except those which were made up, but Lofton is safe when he definitely violated the law and should be removed from the Council. It’s always double standards.
Then there is the issue of every act or decision made by a council member is of interest to the Public and the case against Tonja Brown. The Jasper news published Joe’s article in the paper this week. You just can’t vote because someone else voted that way unless you have a reason and the public has the right to know.
Obviously the way I see it presently is that the Council Members will bring up all of these items, to drop them and never have anything accomplished, nor is the public apprised of what is happening and whether the council will find out why our Town is Broke and where our money is going. The only old business is whether we remove Bebish Inc from the Old Town building. Are you kidding me Councilors. What are you all afraid of?
