White Springs hiring practices have been most interesting in that unlike most Municipalities, White Springs does not hire the best of the best for positions…of course that does not apply to Ray Vaughn who has multitude of experience and is willing to assist in any manner, as Ms. Tebo mentioned. Vaughn worked for the Florida Department of Correctns in Jasper Florida as a Correction’s Officer as well as ion Public Works from 2006 to 2017. Prior he worked for HUD Industrial Supply as a Welder. Vaugh is capable of working with multiple items of equipment, has a wealth of experience, and has a high school diploma with Suwannee High School
We did find out that Pam Tomlinson in July of 2000 did apply for a “Finance Director” position and knowing what a finance Director does and what is required under our Charter, it makes me wonder how she was hired at the time for such an important position. Yes she has a high school diploma from Suwannee High School in Live Oak and graduated in 1969. Thereafter she went to the Florida School of Real Estate in Jacksonville to secure her real estate license.
Now Janie Von “Yvonne” Bryant has an Associates in Arts Degreee from Lake City Community College where she attended from 1974 to 1976 to secure a “Clerical” vocation. This was after receiving her GED from Hamilton County High School, Jasper Florida. Yvonne had a long period of employment with the Clerk of Courts as Deputy Clerk, Criminal Division from March of 1996 to March of 2015. Although she retired in 2015 as you are all aware, she is the Administrative Assistant after Anita Rivers left. Yvonne also worked at White Springs Elementary and Stephen Foster Center, the latter of which she was an Administrative Secretary from January to December handling clerk typest and word processing.
Curtis Johnson was in Shads at Lakeshore from October, 2010 until he took a position with the City of White Springs. He received a High School Diploma from Hamilton County High and completed his application in 2019 after working for the Town of White Springs from November 11, 2011 to the present. Apparently he was not required to complete an application prior to Stacy Tebo being our Town Manager. Curtis reads our Meters, does landscaping, meter repairs, water leaks, back hoe work and lawn maintenance.
Benjamin Fry completed his application on March 15, 2019 for employment beginning April 1, 2019. Mr. Fry has a Suwanne High School Diploma with his first job with Jason Welding for one month and three days for Jason Welding.as a welder and Fabricator. He left that position because he received a position at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center working on Electric, Plumbing, Painting and Keeping Grounds for the period from April 29, 2015 to August 5, 2018. He left this position for personal reasons and started with Hamilton County Road Department in October 4, 2018 where he mowed, edged and handled clean-p and maintenance.
Shonda M. Werts has a GED from Chester Upland U.S. She attended Philadelphia Community College in Liberal Arts 2013 but has no idea what credits she received, nor a diploma. Ms. Werts worked as the assistant manager at Krystal’s Restaurant from 2016 to 2017 only as a seasonal Part-time employee of 20 hours. She then took a waitress job at Stoudemires Restaurant in Live Oak in 2017 which was part-time and when the business closed, she secured a customer service guiding and solving customer inquiries, responsible for daily transaction reports, creating a safe environment by following company guidelines and procedures at Loves as a Cashier from June 7, 2018 to the present. She started as our Code Enforcement Officer after an application dated August 6, 2018.
And even though our Town Manager cannot fill out an application our Fire Chief Kevin Pittman did, even though he stated he will only be paid similar to those of his crew. Kevin Pitman attented North Florida Community College in Madison in 1994 to secure his EMT Certificate, Lake City Community College from 2003 to 2006 to secure his Paramedic Certificate, Chipola Community College in 2010 to secure his Firefighter I and Firefighter II Certificates, and Florida State Fire in Ocala Florida from 2005 to the present to secure hif Fire Science Degree. Kevin Pittman was also a former Law enforcement Officer. He also has attended Weapons School at Shepard Air Force Base in 1997-2001 as well as Air Crew School in 1999. Kevin Pittman is an amazing individual, Fire Chief and Leader and we are so proud that White Springs finally came to its senses and have him back.
One reason Mr. Jones possibly does not wish to complete an application is because the Certification of the Application states: “I am aware that any omissions or falsifications in this application may disqualify me for employment consideration and if I am hired, may be grounds for termination at a later date. I understand that any information I give may be investigated and I consent to the release of information about my abilities, employment history and fitness for employment by previous employees, schools, law enforcement agencies and personal references: He shouldn’t worry because the Town didn’t even do a background check which they apparently do not do for any of their hires; that is unless you are Joe Griffin and don’t have the paperwork to prove something, then they will try and encarcerate you and even your wife.
