The RHATT Pack Watch
Today is Saturday, December 15th, Day 234 of the Rhatt Pack Watch.
It finally happened! The long awaited pilot of the “Watch” Staring Steve Buscemi as the Red-face Ratt, Sara Douglas as the “Out of Towner” Lapdog “Just keep paying me” Tebow, Martin Lawrence as the illegal alien Suck-up “Mini-Me Despot” Mayor Lofty and Regina Hall as Mindless “Splain it to me” Vive Mayor Tonja aired on the WCC channel this past week.
The Ratt-Pack Watch reached out to the “Watch” cast and crew. According to Ran Howard, producer and Rod Reiner, producer/director, the pilot was produced under Imegine Entertainment at FOX on the sound stage adjacent to the Howard’s Empire production studio. Howard went on to say, both he and Reiner wanted to undertake most, or all of the pilot “on location” in White Springs, but cost and schedule constraints demanded that filming of the pilot he completed on a FOX sound stage where he and Reiner could control 100% of the activities.
Using the vast number of photos they had taken during visits as guides, we were able to reproduce those portions of White Springs facilities within the limited production space essential for the pilot. Buscemi who had just returned from a quick visit to White Springs opined “Playing the Ratt is the type of role I cherish”. Visiting White Springs several times to get a feel for the region, meeting with a number of residents and observing the Ratt and other characters as they went about their daily activities has been extremely helpful.” “I believe portraying the Ratt will be some of my very best work” Douglas said. “Working with Rod Reiner has been a fantastic experience. He’s so easy to work with. He knows exactly what he wants to achieve with every shot and he understands how to pull performances out of you that you wouldn’t believe were possible. And Steve, what a pleasure. He has so much talent and he’s a perfect gentleman”
Apparently the pilot was the result of a joint writing effort by Gary Glasberg and Chris Siber. Reiner said “Pilots are always challenging. Pilots need to be interesting, exciting and something that generates an emotional attachment that can be built on for future episodes.” “The “Watch” has it all! With the cast and crew, Howard and I put together, my biggest challenge was staying within budget and hitting our production schedule. It looks like the pilot aired at WCC’s highest rating ever”
It appears, the “Watch portrayed each of the characters exactly as they are: The Ratt came across as insecure with a “Why don’t you love me Daddy complex”, incompetent and suffering from delusions of grandeur, the Lapdog appeared as a lying, bumbling criminal, absent all ethical behavior and with psychopathic attributes, illegal alien Suck-up seemed like a creep devoid of social skills with an inferiority complex expressing himself as a sinister despot, and Mindless was represented as someone who had no clue of how dumb she really was, someone incapable of reading or understanding any Council materials and someone functioning like a wrecking ball bouncing down a street.
Hope you were tuned in this past week and enjoyed the “Watch” pilot. Howard indicated they have initiated work on the series and are in negotiations for a prime time slot beginning late this Winter or early next Spring.
White Springs may be seeing more of the “Watch” cast and crew in Town over the next few months, if and when, Howard and Reiner transition to “On location” filming. Maybe they cast the Ratt or the Lapdog in a cameo role.
While you’re waiting, you might consider becoming involved with the Town Council. Learn the challenges facing White Springs. Help recruit competent candidates for Council. Vote for and elect the best, not some “Cousin”. Report and eliminate all crime in Town Hall or on the Streets. Call the FBI office in Jacksonville (904) 248-7000.
Eliminate incompetence in the Town Administration and on the Council including the Ratt. It’s Day 234 and the Red-face Ratt hasn’t resigned yet. The Rhatt Pack Watch Continues!
