NOVEMBER 18, 2020 (WEDNESDAY) PLANNING & ZONING COMMITTEE MEETING STARTING AT 6:30 PM
DECEMBER 18, 2020 (FRIDAY) CHRISTMAS PARADE – initially the Council was considering December 4th but unfortunately the Department of Transportation requires 30 day notice to shut down a road. At this point, we at the Journal are not certain whether an application will be required for those wishing to participate in the parade. We also will not have the hot dog picnic at Nellie Bly’s due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Chief Pittman has also advised that the Parade Units may only drive through the park.
For those wishing to see the lights that are not Christmas Parade participants, The park will only allow a limited amount of vehicles in at any given time. There will be no money at the gates and only one ranger will be presents. One can secure tickets on line at Stephen Foster (not currently on facebook) https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/stephen-foster-folk-culture-center-state-park?fbclid=IwAR0r_2-UpZGk4_XfxBd3PZQ8sj6eaV67-iZ_SLG2Mps0YzWDuWV_BjFbqEo or by telephone (386) 397-2733
The Stephen Foster site states:
Visitor, staff and volunteer safety remain top priorities of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Park Service. To support social distancing efforts, visitors can purchase their admission single-use day pass online ahead of their visit instead of paying at the park. This will allow visitors to limit physical interaction with park staff while entering the park.
No advance Day Pass purchases are available at this time. Your Passes are good only for the same date of purchase. Pre-purchased Day Passes do not guarantee park entry upon arrival.
