THE CHARTER SAYS IN SECTION 2 AND 4 WE MUST HOLD A SPECIAL ELECTION

Section 2.02 Term of Office

c. Mayor: The Town Council shall nominate and elect b majority vote a Mayor from among its members. The nomination and election shalltake place at the first organizational meeting after teregular April election. THE PROCESS SHALL REPEAT IF THE MAYOR OFFICE IS VACATED PERMANENTLY. ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE OFFICE.

(c) Filling of Vacancies.

2. If the elections more than 45 days away, the council will nominate qualified Town residents and by majority vote of the remaining Council members choose one of the nominees to serve the remainder of the term of the vacated seat.

(d) Extraordinary Vacancies:

should two (2) or more vacancies occur simultaneously on the TownCouncil, the remaining members shall, within fifteen (15) days, call a special meeting to call a SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL THE VACANT COUNCIL POSITION, SUCH ELECTION SHALL BEHELD IN THE MANNER PRESCRIBED BY THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE IV OF THIS CHARTER.
