Wastewater Plant Operator C Pay Grade: V (Non-Exempt)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Entry  level work in controlling treatment plant machines and equipment to meet State requirements for discharge and the proper disposal of solid discharge

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment plant machines and equipment
  • Confirms proper treatment of wastewater and confirms proper discharge of effluent
  • Perform other duties as required by the Council such as Wastewater Plant Operator

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other related field and two years experience as an apprentice or trainee; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

State of Florida “C” Wastewater Plant Operator Certificate

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Wastewater plant treatment facilities and operations
  • knowledge of State regulations governing the proper treatment of wastewater and discharge
  • Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain a professional effective working relationship with associates and to interact with all levels of employees, City officials and the public
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in decision-making and all phases of responsibilities
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
