Democrats began obstructing Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing less than five seconds into it on Monday, and several protestors were physically removed by police for trying to shut it down.
As reported by Fox News, Democrats literally began the hearing by interrupting Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, before he could even say a few words. Democrats also tried to introduce a string of objections to delay the hearing, all of which Grassley smacked down.
The chaos got so bad that Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, remarked, “This is the first confirmation hearing subject to mob rule.”
The hearing began at 9 a.m. ET, and the committee spent the first two hours listening to Democrat committee members grandstanding about how Kavanaugh — President Donald Trump’s pick to serve on the Supreme Court — will end the world.
“Judge Kavanaugh is one of the most qualified nominees – if not the most qualified nominee – I have seen,” Grassley attempted to say, but was cut-off several times as numerous liberal protestors were dragged out of the hearing for being unruly.
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., raised objections to the committee receiving over 400,000 documents relating to Kavanaugh’s work with past administrations, claiming that “was not enough.”
“We cannot possibly move forward,” Harris theatrically claimed, likely using the hearing ahead of her potential 2020 Democratic presidential run.
After allowing Harris to interrupt him, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., jumped in and was also rude to the chairman.
“I think you are taking advantage of my decency and my integrity,” Grassley said.
After every single Democrat interrupted Grassley and another protestor was kicked out every 15 minutes or so, Grassley knocked Democrats for using the hearing as a political stunt to create drama.
“We have said for a long period of time that we were going to proceed on this very day and I think we ought to give the American people the opportunity to hear whether judge Kavanaugh should be on the Supreme Court or not,” Grassley said.
Texas Sen. Cornyn ripped Democrats for their childish antics.
“Democrats would be held in contempt of court if they behaved that way in a court of law. We have rules in the Senate. We have norms for decorum. Everybody as you pointed out will get a chance to have their say.”
Watch Cornyn’s comments below:
Grassley called for “proper respect and decorum.”
“This is something I’ve never gone through before in 15 Supreme Court nominations,” Grassley said.
Here are a few clips of protestors losing their minds, and Democrats attempting to grandstand and claim Kavanaugh’s nomination will be the end of the world:
Trump selected Kavanaugh to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy who retired on July 31, from the High Court after decades of service. As such, the Left continues to make despicable comments to smear and attack Kavanaugh.
Conservatives praised the president for nominating a strong conservativewho will fight for individual and religious liberties on the nation’s highest court.
Republicans currently control a 51-49 majority in the Senate. So, Democrats and their protestors can be as rude and obnoxious as they please — Kavanaugh is more than likely going to be nominated to serve on the Supreme Court in the coming months.
