May Day and Police Protection

Councilor and Former Vice Mayor Tonja Brown advised that the Mother’s Day Brunch was successful and now she is working on getting together a flea market in White Springs.

May Day is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 17th, 18th and 19th.   It will begin with a Fish Fry at 6:00 pm at the Carver School Property and the event will stretch out to Ogburn Field.    Clarence Strong will be donating and setting up the bounce houses, the tents and trains by 7:00 AM at the Carver property.   Sunday there will be a Car show at the Ogburn Field.

Chief of Police Tracy Rodriquenz attended the Human Traffic Suposium and will be notifying residents of the new routes this week.  There will not be many closures and the Command post will be at the Old Stormants” Family Traditions” entrance.  Sunrise Drive will be a one-way.  Railroad Street will be blocked at both ends for emergency services.  The Citizens on Railroad will have access on the other side of the road.   Mill Street will be baricaded.

The Florida Highway Patrol, the Department of Agriculture, the Jennings Police Department and the Sheriff’s Department will assist the White Springs Police Department.

Chief Rodriquenz spoke to the Dollar General Store manager and Dollar General should be responsible for their own security.  On Saturday and Sunday the Dollar general Store will beef up their employees in a discussion Chief Rodriquenz had with the Manager.


Ray Vaughn will be putting up signs and barricades.  Local Residents will be approached before the weekend.

The following week will be the Folk Festival.
