Donald Trump News
President Donald Trump is escalating his pressure on General Motors, as he calls for the company to reopen an Ohio manufacturing plant.

Trump tweeted Monday that GM should “close a plant in China or Mexico, where you invested so heavily pre-Trump,” and “bring jobs home!”

Trump travels to politically important Ohio this week. Over the weekend, Trump tweeted that officials should start talks with the United Auto Workers immediately so that the Lordstown plant could be reopened or sold.

General Motors said in a statement Sunday that the future of plants scheduled to be closed “will be resolved between GM and the UAW.” The automaker said that it had “opportunities available for virtually all impacted employees.”

Striking back against what he called a silencing campaign against conservative Fox News hosts Judge Jeanine Pirro and Tucker Carlson, President Donald Trump tweeted calls Sunday to “stay strong and fight back with vigor.”

President Trump issued three tweets rejecting “the fake news media . . using every trick in the book” to silence the will of the American people who elected him and made Fox News the No. 1-watched news programs.

A new “Justice With Jeanine Pirro” did not air Saturday night. Instead, the Fox News channel aired a re-run of the documentary series “Scandalous” in the 9pm slot.

“Bring back @JudgeJeanine Pirro,” President Trump’s tweetstorm began. “The Radical Left Democrats, working closely with their beloved partner, the Fake News Media, is using every trick in the book to SILENCE a majority of our Country. They have all out campaigns against @FoxNews hosts who are doing too well. Fox . . .

“. . . to the people that got you there,” President Trump concluded. “Keep fighting for Tucker, and fight hard for @JudgeJeanine. Your competitors are jealous – they all want what you’ve got – NUMBER ONE. Don’t hand it to them on a silver platter. They can’t beat you, you can only beat yourselves!”

THIS ISSUE: House Dems expand Dream Amnesty to include nearly a half-million more

FRI, MAR 15th

More than 200 Democrats have cosponsored the new Dream amnesty that was introduced earlier this week. The American Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6, would grant amnesty to as many as 3.5 million illegal aliens who entered the country before their 18th birthday AND to 429,000 (mostly illegal-alien) individuals who have received relief from deportation.

The American Dream and Promise Act, if passed, could become the largest amnesty in our nation’s history!

With 210 House Democrats already on board, it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to stop H.R. 6 from passing in the House.

The real battle will be in the Senate where a number of Republican Senators, including Cory Gardner of Colorado, Susan Collins of Maine, and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina (who are all up for re-election in 2020), have been supportive in the past of massive, no-strings amnesties.

Many of you received Jim’s letter yesterday that highlighted several of the key provisions tucked inside the American Dream and Promise Act. Here are the full details on the two amnesties:

Dream Amnesty

  • Would provide conditional legal status and work permits for 10 years to most illegal aliens 18 or over who claim to have entered the country before reaching the age of 18 and claim to have been continuously present during the four years immediately prior to enactment.
  • To receive the amnesty, illegal aliens must have been accepted to a U.S. institution of higher learning, obtained a high school diploma (or its equivalent), or be pursuing a high school diploma (or its equivalent).
  • Illegal aliens must also be free of a felony conviction or have no more than 3 misdemeanor convictions committed on separate days where the aggregate jail time was 90 days or longer.
  • Once granted amnesty, illegal aliens can receive a green card and a lifetime work permit after: 1) receiving a degree from a U.S. institution of higher learning, 2) completing 2 years of schooling in pursuit of a 4-year degree, 3) serving in the military for 2 years, or 4) working for 3 years for at least 75% of the time after receiving a work permit.
  • Illegal aliens under the age of 18 who have been continuously present for the 4 years immediately prior to enactment will become eligible once they reach the age of 18 and meet the educational requirement.
  • According to the Migration Policy Institute, there are 2.3 million illegal aliens who currently meet the age, residency, and education requirements. Based on past estimates from MPI, there could be another 1 million or more who currently meet the age and residency requirements.

TPS/DED Amnesty

  • Any alien (most of whom are in the country illegally) who has been continuously present for the 3 years immediately prior to enactment and has received either Temporary Protected Status or Deferred Enforced Departure receives amnesty, including Legal Permanent Residency status and a lifetime work permit.
  • Temporary Protected Status is given to foreign citizens in the United States who are unable to return home for a temporary period of time because of a political uprising or natural disaster in their home countries. Deferred Enforced Departure is similar to TPS, but is used by the president for matters of foreign relations. Citizens from 12 countries are currently eligible for the designations.
  • The Migration Policy Institute estimates that approximately 429,000 aliens (mostly illegal) will receive the amnesty under this provision.

For most of you, we’ve posted a new message on your Action Board that you can send to your Members of Congress.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has said that passing the Dream Act is one of her top priorities for the 116th Congress. The bill number, H.R. 6, was reserved by Speaker Pelosi for this legislation, so we expect the House to act within the next few months.

Between now and then, we’ll continue to provide you with updates and new actions that you can take to express your opposition to this mass amnesty.

N.Y. Times — Chris was asked about Trump’s continued push for more immigration.

“Anything we do now to bring in more foreign workers could actually reverse some of the economic gains over the last four years,” Mr. Chmielenski said. “We’re absolutely concerned. We feel this isn’t how he ran on the issue.”

Washington Times — Rosemary called out House Democrats for introducing a mass amnesty while opposing border security.

“It is unbelievably irresponsible for the Democrats to introduce a massive amnesty bill at the same time they are refusing to even acknowledge the crisis on the southern border,” she said. “Sadly, House Democrats will vote for this open-borders agenda. Hopefully, no Republicans are foolish enough to join them.”

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen announced an extension of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for South Sudan. After reviewing conditions with interagency partners, Nielsen said the ongoing armed conflict and other extraordinary conditions in South Sudan warrant an extension. The current 84 beneficiaries from South Sudan are eligible to re-register for a TPS extension through November 2, 2020.

A Message From Representative Ted Yoho
About Me Contact Me Media Center Services Issues
Dear Friends,

I respect the right of Members of Congress who say they cannot in good conscious support executive action to secure our nation’s borders. They claim that it’s unconstitutional and it sets a precedent for future presidents to use executive action to do the same. Some fear a future president could use this executive action to confiscate guns and take away our second amendment rights or attack the first amendment under the guise of a national emergency.

I would like to remind those Members of Congress that they have a responsibility to secure our nation. The American people have sent us here to solve the nation’s problems, not ignore them. I see three reasons they should support President Trump’s tough decision to secure our borders:

1. In 1976, Congress passed the National Emergency Act giving the Chief Executive authority to act in defense of the nation- in 1982 Congress increased presidential authority to act in defense of the country.

2. Most presidents have had to deal with the U.S. borders in one capacity or another and usually, Congress was able to act to support fulfilling the Constitutional duty to provide for the defense of the nation by helping those presidents secure and maintain the U.S. border. But Since President Reagan, Congress has failed to come up with a border-immigration solution.

3. The crisis at the border is escalating. Last month over 76,000 people tried to enter America illegally along our southern border.  That number will grow exponentially if this problem continues to be left unchecked and the crisis will not only be outside our border, but within.

Congress’s failure to act has created this crisis at the border, not President Trump.

One Senator claimed, ‘this would shred his political soul if we did not stand up to President Trump the same way we did to President Obama for his executive authority overreach.’ There’s a major difference between President Obama and Trump’s approach to our southern border. Obama broke the law by allowing people to enter the U.S. illegally- jeopardizing American citizens. Whereas, President Trump followed U.S. law to secure our border to keep people out and to protect American citizens because of Congress’s failure to do so.

Failure to secure our borders has led to the crisis we are experiencing today. Members of Congress who do not support President Trump’s Executive Action to secure our Nation’s border are not fulfilling their Constitutional oath to protect America and are responsible for this emergency. Their constituents will decide their political fate and legacy. Vote wisely, vote to support the President and let’s fix the immigration debacle, so we do not put the United States and her citizens in this situation ever again.
