The RHATT Pack Watch Day 309

The RHATT Pack Watch

Day 309

Today is Thursday, February 28th, Day 309 of the Rhatt Pack Watch.

Each year the Florida Legislature is in Session for about two months.   In preparation for this Session, each Member of the House and Senate schedules local Hearings in which they ask their constituents about their issues and needs.  Generally Counties, Municipalities and Sp[ecial Districts use this opportunity to discuss funding needs, issues with the Statutes and More.

Often Local Citizens raise issues which they believe can only be addressed by the State.  Earlier this Year, Senator Montford and Representative Brannan held a joint hearing for Hamilton County in Jasper.  This year was much the same with about a hundred residents and officials in attendance.  A number of residents and officials spoke about serious health related problems due to poor water quality associated with repeated spills at the Valdosta and other Wastewater Treatment Plants in Southern Georgia.  As you are aware contaminated Wastewater is a source of Escherichia coliform.  From the health issues described, it’s likely that the 0157:H7 strain has migrated into the well and drinking water systems throughout much of the County.  0157:H7 causes fever, bleeding, kidney failure, confusion and seizures which were among the illnesses described by various speakers.

Additionally, several residents brought up the lack of social services, health services, affordable housing and more in Hamilton County.  Other residents raised the issue of Local Option Fuel Tax revenue Statutes and their implementation.  Additionally they asked that White Springs use of LOFT funds be reviewed to ensure all actions being taken by the Red-face Ratt, his “Gang of Thugs” and his “Out of Towner” Lapdog “Just keep paying me” Tebow are in compliance with the intent of the Legislature.  Several Officials spoke on various legislative issues that are expected to be before the Legislature at some point during this year’s Session.

Both Senator Montford and Representative Brannan began taking action on all of the requests that came before them at the  Jasper hearing.  Following a normal protocal, each assigned a staff member to review the issues and identify all of the options and opportunities to achieve a successful resolution of the issues raised.

After a few days, the Staff and Member met to discuss progress.  In Senator Montford’s office, one of the initial courses of action was a request to the Florida Attorney General’s office to provide insight  and opinion on the proper use of LOFT funds given the behavior by White Springs.  Apparently, a response to Senator Montford’s request is being prepared.

When Representative Brannan met with his staff, a decision was made to follow  a slightly different course of action.  Representative Brannan, himself, has gone to the Joint Legislative Audit Committee to request a formal audit of White Springs financial operations.  They pointed out that the Department of Revenue indicated that Florida Statute, Title XIV – Taxation and Finance, Chapter 206 – Motor and other Fuel Taxes, specifically Section 2-6.605 governs the Municipal tax on motor fuel and its use.  Further a Department spokesperson indicated that the Statute provided for the suspension of fuel tax funds to and the full recovery of inappropriate and/or illicit use of fuel tax revenues from the offending entity.
Hey Town Hall, it looks like Tallahassee will be going through your shorts.  When they determine that all or most of the LOFT funds were illegally used, LOFT revenue payments to White Springs will stop and the $750,000 will need to be repaid.  Another BIG BILL brought to you by the Red-face Ratt, his “Gang of Thugs” and his “Out of Towner” Lapdog “Just keep paying me” Tebow.  If you relish paying for the Ratt’s gigs, do nothing.  If you want change, elect TWO different Town Council Members.

Remove “Gang” members, Mindless “Splain it to me” Tanja and the Ratt.  It’s Day 309 and the Red-face Ratt hasn’t resigned yet.  The RHATT Pack Watch continues!
