LIGHTING GRANT WAS ONLY FOR THE HISTORIC DISTRICT – NEED MORE LIGHTS FOR OTHER AREAS OF TOWN
Vice Mayor Walter McKenzie stated people have been giving him a bad time about all of the lighting in front of his residence. However the Grant we had through the Department of Transportation only allowed lighting in the historic district and that is why the poles are so close together because it started in the Historic District and ended with the Historic District.
The Council decided that we need to secure a different type of grant for the same type of Lighting, possibly from the Department of Economic Opportunity so that we can extend the lighting to areas where there is no lighting. Also one can check with the Community Block Development Grant (CBDG) programs to get a different funding for areas other than Highway 41.
