Mr. Griffin,

I checked again with staff at the FMIT. In addition to a general liability policy, White Springs also has a workers’ compensation (WC) policy with the FMIT for October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019. The information for the WC policy is as follows:

  1. Listed under “Firefighters and Drivers” the city lists a 18/19 projected payroll of $6,651. WC policies are based on payroll amounts, not the number of firefighters. The city also indicated it has no full-time firefighters. However, the city notes that there are 10 volunteer firefighters. The low payroll amount ($6,651) would appear to indicate that the city may make a nominal payment to volunteers for the calls they respond to, which I understand is not uncommon for volunteer service, or some nominal payment amount to a part-time chief or other firefighter. However, these are only assumptions on my part.

This is all the information we could locate relating to your record request.

Thank you,

Kraig Conn
